What’s Better? Dental Savings Plans or Insurance?

As more and more of the public are gaining access to dental savings plans or dental insurance, the question becomes one of what’s better? Should you go with a dental savings plan, or maybe go with dental insurance instead?

If you’re like most people, choosing the right dental insurance company can be tedious and overwhelming. It’s difficult to figure out which plan is best for your needs; oftentimes, it seems like they all offer such similar coverage at vastly different price points.

At Collins Dental, we get this question a lot. We’re proud to tell our patients that we have a fantastic dental savings plan that allows anyone who wants dental care the opportunity to receive it.

What is a Dental Savings Plan?

In order to understand why a dental savings plan is a great choice, you first have to know what one is. Dental savings plans, also known as membership plans, are designed for individuals, families or groups who are looking to save money on their dental care needs.

At Collins Dental, have agreed to accept a discounted fee from plan members. As a plan member, you simply show your membership card when visiting our office to receive most dental services at discounted fees. You pay the discounted rate directly to the dentist.

Why a Savings Plan is Better

When using insurance, it can sometimes take quite a bit of time to see the dentist. And, if you’ve had tooth pain, you know that you can’t always wait to get checked out. Dental insurance can also be expensive under some circumstances. Even if you have insurance, the deductible can also be high, meaning you’ll still pay a large chunk of the procedure. If you need emergency dental work or complex procedures, you might have to pay for a significant portion of it before your insurance begins to cover any of the cost.

There are a lot of advantages to getting a membership plan instead of using insurance. For example, with the Collins Dental Membership Plan there are no waiting periods, no exclusions, no claim forms to file, no yearly maximums and no deductibles or claim forms. If you’re having a dental emergency, we’ll get you right in and get your smile healthy again.
